Alumni Email Forward FAQ - graduates after 2023

What is the alumni email forward?

You may opt-in to a service which will forward email sent to your Furman alumni email address to a personal email address.

Eligibility

This service is available to alumni who graduated in December 2022 or after.

When does my current email account expire?

Accounts for December and May graduates will expire the first week of September following their graduation.  Accounts for August graduates will expire in December following their graduation.

Will my email address remain the same?

No, it sill be similar but slightly different.  Instead of username@furman.edu, your new email address will be username@alumni.furman.edu

Do I get my email the same way?

No, email to your new Furman alumni email address will be automatically forwarded to your personal email address.  

Will I lose all of my current email?

Yes, your current account will be removed and all data deleted.  Links to information on how to archive your email data can be found on our Leaving Furman Guide for Students  

Will email to my student email address forward to my alumni email address?

No, email to your @furman.edu address is not forwarded to your @alumni.furman.edu address.

If my name changes, can I request a name change?

No, your display name and email address will be permanent.

I graduated before 2023, can I still get an account?

No, this service is opt-in at the time of graduation.  If a graduate does not opt-in during the specified time period, their accounts are deleted and cannot be restored.
