Description

This article provides information on how to setup a personal subscription to Microsoft 365 using the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program.

*Due to Microsoft's ending of their A1+ license, the desktop version of Office 365 applications will no longer be available for retirees and affiliates 

Instructions

  • Visit the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program website and enter your Furman email address.
  • You should receive an email welcoming you to the Workplace Discount Program.  Click on the link to "Sign in and Shop"
  • Sign in with a personal Microsoft Account (not your Furman email).  If you don't have a Microsoft Account, you can click the link to "Create one"
  • Select Microsoft 365 Family if you need up to multiple people (up to 6) to have access or Microsoft 365 Personal if you need access for just yourself.
  • Pay for subscription and login to your new Microsoft 365 subscription.
  • In the top left, click the icon with the 9 dots (waffle menu)

  • In the menu that displays, click the button for “Microsoft 365”. Note: if you don't see this as an option, you may need to first click 'More apps'.

  • On the right side of the new window, click the button “Install apps

Select install apps

  • Click Install button to download the OfficeSetup.exe file.

Click Microsoft 365 apps

  • Run downloaded file.
  • Once installed, launch an Office application such as Word.
    • Click the File menu and select Office Account
    • Under User Information, click the Sign Out option
    • Exit Office application
    • The next time you open an Office application, you should be prompted for your email address and password. Enter your personal Microsoft Account credentials.
